DAS Okulu, Ankara, 16-20 Ocak 2008,

DAS tarafından ilk sterilizasyon eğitim kursuna davet edilmek benim için sadece bir onur değil aynı zamanda bir zevkti. Okul 16-20 Ocak 2008 tarihleri arasında, Ankara’da, son derece otantik ve hoş bir otel olan Patalya Termal Otel’de yapıldı. Ancak, ne yazık ki katılımcıların otelin muhteşem imkanlarından yararlanmaya pek vakitleri olmadı.

Düzenleme kurulunun hedefi, hastanelerin sterilizasyon bölümlerinde çalışan personele yoğun bir eğitim kursu sunmaktı. Bu nedenle katılımcı sayısı kısıtlanmıştı. Sekizyüz aday arasından 185’i seçilmişti. Bu çok zor bir görev olmalı.

Program, sterilizasyonun önemli konuları ile ilgili sunumlar ve interaktif oturumlardan oluşmuştu. İnteraktif oturumlarda katılımcılar, sterilizasyon ve dezenfeksiyon ile ilgili problemler üzerinde düşünmeye ve çözüm önerileri sunmaya teşvik edildi. Çok ilginçti. Cuma gecesi katılımcı grupların hazırlayıp sunduğu sunular da kesinlikle standartların üzerindeydi. Ne yazık ki, Türkçe bilmediğim için konuşmaları tam anlayamadım ama sunular öylesine hevesle hazırlanıp sunulmuştu ki, kendimi içindeymiş gibi hissettim.

Pazar sabahı ayrılmak zorunda olduğum için bitirme sınavını izleyemedim. Öğrendiğim kadarıyla tüm katılımcılar yüksek puanlar almışlar. Bu başarıları nedeniyle tüm katılımcıları tebrik etmek ve öğrendikleri bilgileri çalıştıkları sterilizasyon bölümlerinin kalitesini iyileştirmek üzere kullanmalarını dilemek istiyorum.

Hükümetin sadece bu türlü projeleri desteklemesi değil, aynı zamanda alınan sertifikaların sterilizasyon üniteleri için zorunluluk haline getirilecek olması da son derece önemlidir. Bu durum Türkiye’deki sterilizasyonun geleceği için ümit vadeden pozitif bir durumdur. Sadece küçük bir hatırlatma: Sterilizasyon ünitelerinde çalışna personel için de temel eğitim kurslarının düzenlenmesi gereklidir.

Okul, DAS tarafından mükemmel bir şekilde organize edilmişti. Ayrıca DAS, tüm katılımcıların ücretsiz katılımını sağlayacak kadar çok sayıda değişik firmaların ilgisini okula çekmişti.

Eğer tıbbi aletler için en önemli şey bilgi ise, bu okul bu aletlerin en iyi şekilde idamesini sağlayacak bilgi katkısını kesinlikle sağlamıştır. Mükemmel sterilizasyon uygulamaları yolunda başarılar diliyorum.

DAS Training Course, Ankara, 16 to 20 January 

It was not only an honour but also a pleasure for me to be invited by Das to their first sterilization training course in Turkey. It took place from 16 to 20 January 2008 in the cosy Patalya thermal resort hotel in Ankara, a very pleasant hotel with a very authentic feel to it. However, the participants did not have all that much time to enjoy the use of the excellent facilities of the hotel.

It was clearly the intention of the organizers to offer an intensive dedicated training course for the people in charge of the sterilization departments in the hospitals. That was the reason why the number of participants was capped. Out of 800 candidates, the 185 participants were selected. It must have been a very difficult task.

The programme was a mix of presentations about ‘the’ hot issues in sterilization and interactive sessions. In the latter the participants were stimulated to actively think about and propose solutions to specific disinfection and sterilization problems. Very interesting. The presentations given by the different groups on Friday evening were undoubtedly also of a very high standard. Unfortunately, my Turkish is not up to scratch but the presentations were given with so much enthusiasm that even I got fully absorbed in them.

As I had to leave on Sunday morning, I could not attend the concluding examination. I have been informed that all participants passed with flying colours. I would like to congratulate them with their excellent results and express the wish that the knowledge they have acquired will be used to improve the quality of the sterilization departments in which they are working.

It is very important that the government has not only committed itself to supporting any follow-up projects but will also make the obtaining of the certificate compulsory for the people in charge of sterilization departments. This is very positive and hopeful for the future of sterilization in Turkey. Just a small point: also basic training courses for members of staff in sterilization departments should be set up.

The training course offered by DAS was perfectly organized. Moreover, by attracting sufficient sponsorship from various companies DAS was able to allow the participants to attend for free. 

If knowledge is the best medical device, this training course will certainly make a contribution to this instrument being perfectly maintained. Lots of success on your road to a perfect sterilization practice.
